I had an awesome time chasing in 2010; there were a lot of firsts, and I got to meet new chasers and reunite with old friends. I saw seven tornadoes and saw 1.5- to 2-inch hail on several occasions. I saw some of the most amazing storm structure I'd ever seen. I went chasing more than I'd ever done before and went farther than I'd ever gone before. I went on my first 2+ night chase trips. I went chasing for the first time in Colorado (saw a tornado on the first try...that was Campo on Memorial Day), Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. I went to several new states, including Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, and Missouri...if you don't count airports, Minnesota was a first for me as well. I also chased well into the summer, went on my first July chases, my first tropical chase, and saw my first fall tornado.
My primary chase partner this year was Jeff Makowski. I had the pleasure of chasing with Jeff near Goodnight, Texas this April when Jeff saw his first tornado; and it was a beauty! We also brought along a few other friends, including Esther White a couple of times and Dean Narramore on numerous occasions, who was back for a few months from Australia. Rob Warren and Rob Lee both came out for a couple of weeks as well, and I had a fun-filled week in May chasing with them, Dean, and a chaser from New Zealand, Will Owen.
2010 also saw the launch of my own storm chasing business, Green Sky Chaser. I streamed chase video for the first time this year, and also made my first chase DVD and my first sales in DVDs, photos, calendars, and shirts. Thanks to everyone who's helped me out!
