Southeast Severe Weather
The southeastern U.S. hasn’t had a lot of severe weather days so far this year, but yesterday was certainly a nasty one. Nearly 100 tornadoes were reported (keep in mind number of tornado reports does not equal number of tornadoes), primarily in Mississippi and Alabama, including several tornadoes that threatened fairly populated areas.
Here’s the latest map showing where tornado reports have occurred so far this year (up through the morning of the 15th):
If you want the numbers to tell how each state is doing in terms of tornado and other severe thunderstorm reports, check out the SPC 2011 summary page: http://www.spc.noaa.gov/climo/online/monthly/2011_annual_summary.html
